Sad to see it's a swan song, but I'm glad to see it's also panning out well for you.

You've been a major inspiration to me re: the question, "can gay men write romance about gay men and succeed?". At the same time, I'm also glad that other genres are starting to become less hostile to LGBT leads.

To a beautiful future,
-Napoleon A. I've been slapped down for commenting that Labor lost an unloseable election on the back of an extremely unpopular leader with muddled messages.

The same thing happened here. It's tiny - hell, Wetherspoons didn't feel it when I stopped writing in the local pub on Saturdays post-referendum - but it's one way to act on my convictions. I'm so disgusted I've looked at selling up here and moving to a Labour -voting area, and I spend time every week on real estate websites with listings in Germany or France. I really do hope that the European countries will make it easier for Brits to leave the country - Germany has apparently been very welcoming to local British people. But yeah, it's dire, and "I'm all right, Jack" just shows a complete lack of empathy or ability to see the bigger picture. In this series "Dark Soul" the characters are so well written in their emotions, struggles, being the people they are but also having a hidden well with a solid metal cover and bolts that get replaced day after day. I have read this series three times, I believe, and find new hidden layers that I didn't see before - please hang in there, keep writing, don't give up, just keep fighting. What else is life, but a struggle? It would be boring without goals, and struggling is more than a challenge, it keeps one from falling into despair at the utter uselessness of life. Keep fighting, keep writing.Me nowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08339455963618825966noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29109752791794032.post-49412319996941320172018-10-22T09:03:39.846+01:002018-10-22T09:03:39.846+01:00I am really glad to be here as i found more than o...I am really glad to be here as i found more than one great novel. I also only have one regular CP and generally have a max of one beta reader on any wip (on my current wip, no beta at all due to time constraints). Partly this is down to my very British inability to ask for help, lol, but partly, I'm just chary of 'too much' and/or pointless feedback. I suspect some people are really just looking for positive reinforcement for betas, and I suppose fair enough if that's what you want. But is it really adding anything to your book, or your broader skill set as a writer? I question that. I'm doing a talk at my library as part of a writers group On when you should Tell and not Show! People get fixated on the 'rules'. Giving and receiving feedback that's more than 'I liked it' or 'I didn't understand it' is itself a skill and one that not everyone - regardless of where they are on their writing journey- can acquire. When someone is straight up adversarial, I can shut that down as not having anything to do with me.
